Here's To One Year | Happy 1st Blog Birthday!

Happy New Year! and Happy Birthday to Ashley Avenu. It's been an entire year since this big idea began. A year ago today, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create Ashley Avenu. I was so fed up of relying on others to see what I could offer. So, on January 1st, 2016 I created my own opportunity. An outlet for my own writing, my voice, on my own platform my way. I took the risk of possibly getting no one to read my work. I took a chance on failure. One year later, Ashley Avenu exceeded my own expectations in reaching over 14k views, but that's not it. I have a big reveal!

I am so thankful for everyone who has supported me and my blog since the very start and those of you who have joined along the way. Without you, my blog wouldn't have been as successful as it has been. I love getting all of your feedback and I appreciate everyone who has shared my posts. Thanks to you, my work has reached around the world to eleven different countries outside the U.S. (which is still amazing to me).

So while reaching this milestone it's only right to announce that I'm launching a YouTube channel in 2017! I want you all to be a part of it and have full access to my avenu (see what I did there) and continue to follow my journey. There's another big reveal on the way, but you'll have to stay tuned in to find out. Plus, I feel this will be a better way to personally get to know me! Instead of reading my writing all the time. I'm so excited for this new year. 2016 consisted of a lot of patience and preparation for what's to come. I was brought on board to write for SB Nation which gave me an even bigger platform and more exposure than I could have ever imagined. I've had the opportunity to write pieces and interview some great athletes and big names that garnered positive feedback analytically. By way of SB Nation, I was offered my very own sports talk show covering USC sports, however, I felt that it was best to pass up the offer at this time. Nonetheless, I am grateful for the doors that God opened and the many lessons of patience and perseverance he taught me.

With that being said, it's a new year which means a perfect opportunity to make adjustments for rebranding and new beginnings.

As you can see, my site had a complete makeover and I'm absolutely in love with the new look. As the new year approached, I wanted to go for a more mature, sophisticated and journalistic look and wallah! Here it is. Can I be real? This definitely makes me want to produce more content consistently now.

The past year was a year of growth, figuring out what works best for me and my brand and making sure I polish my niche. I must admit at times I strayed away from what works on my behalf and I didn't post as much as I anticipated when I first made Ashley Avenu. As time has gone on and the year has come full circle, I am now more aware of the direction that Ashley Avenu will be heading towards. I know what differentiates me from everyone else out there and that's what I need to focus on. In 2017 you won't be getting the average bloggy post that just about everyone is doing (no offense to anyone). This time around, I'm looking to expand my work, collaborate and network to take things up a notch. I want to dip into PR and marketing more and bring more exposure to your brands as well.  I want to share stories and hopefully, make a difference with valuable change. The most important one of them all, of course, is that I want to be a lot more consistent. I guess you can say Ashley Avenu will serve as part of my portfolio in some way. The personal side, you can find in Life. Everything ranging from life updates, job changes, and all sorts of life happenings can be located there. The professional side will be found in either Journalistics or Sports Diary. Here, I can put focus on my own work with easy access to a grid of articles all in one place. Yes, you no longer have to search for what you want.  I haven't decided yet if I want to create a tab for easy access to Youtube videos or not. Considering that social links are located in various different areas on the page, there's a possibility that they may end up in the footer of my site.

Also, as most of you know, I go by "Ashley Dash" which has been my nickname for as long as I can remember. However, I felt that with the new year and my choice to rebrand it was time to let go and move towards something new. So all of my social media accounts have been changed from @ashleydashh.

Instagram, Twitter, and Pinterest are all now @ashleyncraddock

As far as YouTube, I'll provide links later and you'll also be able to access the account through my page.

Lastly, if you are interested in working together and feel my services fall in line with what you need, please don't hesitate to reach out. I respond to emails just as fast as a tweet.

I am so excited to continue on this journey with you, 2017 is about to be lit!
